A 7 Megapixel Picture phone

Now here’s a picture phone that really takes pictures. Samsung has announced a 7 Meganpixel camera in a mobile phone. No word on pricing yet but it shows that we really can get better imaging out of our phones. Someday, 3 and 4 Megapixel phone cameras will be standard. Samsung Elec Unveils 7-Megapixel Camera Phone
As with analog photography, there are three elements that determine the quality of the photo: the quality of the film, the quality of the optics/lens, and the skill of the photographer.
A 7 megapixel camera is only as good as its optics, and the lens on the phone does not look very impressive. It doesn’t matter how fine the grain of your “film” is, unless you have a lens that can take advanage of it.
