Podcasting has me hooked

April 6, 2005 by Mike Wendland

I’m become totally smitten by podcasting.
I’ve read all the online how-tos and checked out the apps like Soundflower and Audio Hijack Pro and Skype.
If I can figure out an easy way to edit and voiceover music and sound effects, I’ll be ready to make this a major commitment.
Meanwhile, light posting here today as I devote a few hours to see how the system can be streamlined.
Update
It’s now after 11 p.m. and I’m ready to call it a night. Thanks to all the above programs, Glenn Fleishman’s excellent tutorial mentioned above as a how-to and Skype conversational help from Eric Callis over at MacMove, I’m well on the way.
A few more days and we’ll be there. Still need to be able to play music under and up as I record.
Meantime, those who want to be in our first bigtime podcast, send me your MP3 recorded questions/comments. No longer than 60 secs or so, though, please. You can send them to me at mwendland AT mac DOT com.

An easy to mix the audio tracks is to use Soundtrack to layer them, then render the final stream to AIF. From there, you can convert to AAC or MP3 using iTunes.

JP, not sure I understand you question. Are you trying to create an RSS feed or use RSS feeds to find podcasts?

I, for one, would be willing to pay for a daily Mike Wendland podcast. Not a lot, mind you :-) but some. I am sure you could get advertisers also.
I can’t believe how cool all these podcasts are… better than radio.

    JP,

Typically, your blog publishing software will create the RSS 2.0 feed for you. WordPress has this function built-in and Movable Type has a plugin that will do it for you. If you use one of the dedicated Podcasting hosting services, they will create the RSS feed for you.
