Tech:Knowledge Weekend Podcast

April 9, 2005 by Mike Wendland

We’re back with still another experiment in Podcasting.
The Tech:Knowledge Weekend report is now up.
We’re integrating some MP3 files as reports, playing more with audio clips and sound and offering the tech news of today, plus some reader e-mail.
Lemme know how it’s sounding…

This is very good but I have some questions:
    1) How do I get this to my iPod?
    2) Will you be doing this on a regular basis?
    3) Is there a way to have my computer automatically do this and download your podcasts every day when they are pubpished?
    Thank you.

Sounding good, Mike. My only issue is with the volume. It should be higher. I have to crank it all the way up on my iMac G5, then turn it back down for other podcasts. This one was a little better than the first, but it?s still on the soft side.

Long live podcasts! I love to load them onto my iPod mini and listen to them in the car and out shopping.

To grab podcasts and have them loaded you need a podcatching client. You can find one by going to http://www.ipodder.org/directory/4/ipodderSoftware . There you will find links to podcatchers for just about any system you might be using. If you are using a windows system I definitely recommend doppler from http://dopplerradio.net/ . Once you install your podcatcher you subscribe to podcasts. Yo can get the links from a number of sites including podcastalley.com and ipodder.org. There are several others as well. In the podcatcher you can select which media player to use, how many old podcasts to keep, how often to check for new podcasts etc. Most podcatchers will automatically create a playlist for each podcast. If you have your ipod set up for automatic synching, every time you plug in your ipod it will be loaded with the latest podcasts and you are good to go.

BTW if you want Mike’s pod cast use the XML Feed link at the top left of this page.
