New job for Mike
May 14, 2006 by Mike Wendland
Postings have been slim for the past couple weeks because I’ve taken on a new job at the Detroit Free Press. I am now the Convergence Editor, meaning that, among other things, I try to “converge,” or meld our news coverage into as many diferent formats and with as many other media outlets as possible.
Our first official partner is WDIV-TV, Local 4, the same NBC-TV station I worked at for many years before joining the Free Press.
The job is a huge sea change from just writing tech columns and involved moving into a new downtown Detroit office (and out of the home office I enjoyed for these past several years). I’ll post some pics later but I’ve spent the last two weeks setting it up as a sort of podcast/TV/Web/Multimedia studio as well as my main working space. And yes, I’ll still be writing my personal tech columns for the Free Press.
Just look for me in a lot more ways and on a lot more platforms.
