High tech help to find missing golf balls

June 20, 2006 by Mike Wendland

My biggest problem with golf is that I keep hooking… and losing golf balls. That's why a new RadarGolf system that uses a tiny radio transmitting chip implanted in the ball is so handy.
Wanna see how well it works?

I proposed such a system to my father on a golfing trip a few years ago. We are both novices and and lose about 6 balls a game. He laughed and pointed out that it would not help me much because I tend to slice into the water hazards. So, does the system work when the balls go under water?

Alas, Robert… like I said in the stand-up close, it doesn’t work with submerged balls.
If you hook into the woods, though, you’ll find it!

You are lookin’ pretty good these days, Mike. Are you losing weight? You oughta be on TV all the time. I hope your golf game improves so you don’t need that noisy contraption.

Anything that can help my game or make me enjoy my day out more is a plus in my book. :)

Jeezus, all we need is more crap product to dillute the game of golf. If you can’t hit it straight, take lessons. If that doesn’t work, start bowling. All we need is another old, stubborn, cheap, obstinate codger in plaid pants to ruin everone else’s day while he/she shuffles into the woods with a GameBoy!! What’s next…the Medicus?? Just plain dumb.

I think this is a great invention since my husband has optic nerve damage and has to bring along a “spotter” to golf. As a comment to the person who doesn’t like old codgers with pants; just remember, you will be old some day!! You might be able to change your disposition, but you can’t change the fact you’ll get old!!

Why do you care about finding your ball that goes into the woods? Guys like you are the ones who are turning golf into 6-7 hours per round ordeals and spoiling the game for the rest of us. You said yourself you are not all the concerned with the rules. If you put a ball into the woods, take a drop and get on with it.
