Peek You - A people search engine

September 14, 2007 by admin

There’s a lot of concern these days about online privacy and just how much personal information is out there abut us. If you use one of those social networking sites like MySpace or Facebook, you’re being watched.

That’s the subject of tis week’s PC Mike segment for NBC-TV Newschannel stations around the country.

Now there is Peek You, which calls itself a people search engine. And if you have a profile on one of the many social networking sites like MySpace or Facebook, it’s being tracked and aggregated and used to compile a sort of virtual dossier on you.

Think of this as the equivalent of the telephone white pages for people listed on social networking sites. Enter in a name and it goes out and displays everything it can find on that person - your websites, social-networking pages, photos, or anything else about you online
online.

i don’t think that website should be allowed to publish all that personal information. not even if they charged the person $ for the use. If its private, its meant to remain that way
P R I V A T E! Isn’t there anything that can be done about that? i mean, i think myspace and facebook people should be told this so they can take the stuff off that they don’t others to know about……..

Ok I have myspace and it is private for a reason!!!! What really REALLY irks me is that OTHER people can post YOUR stuff they can basically put out a whole page of lies about you for everyone to see including pictures and links that are very personal. AND THEY ACTUALLY GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO DO THAT?!?!?!? myspace doesnt!

My stuff out in cyber space never got a hit but my 16year old daughters did including the private! Thank god that myspace at least blocks you when you try to get into it. They need to be stopped before someone is really hurt.
