Microsoft launches campaign against scareware vendors
Good for Microsoft. One of the scourges of the Internet, useless software products called scareware that make you think something is wrong with your computer, is now under attack for violating consumer protection laws.
Microsoft and the Washington state attorney general are suing a Texas-based company called Branch Software and its owner over false claims made about $39 program called Registry Cleaner XP which bombards consumers with annoying popup ads trying to frighten them into paying for the useless security program. The Internet makes many work after work

A new study published by the Pew Internet and American Life Project shows that workers have mixed feelings about the increased use of e-mail and the Internet in the last few years.
In a survey of 2,134 adults in March and April, 96 percent used e-mail, the Internet or cell phones. Of them, 80 percent said these technologies have improved their ability to do their jobs, and 58 percent said these tools have given them more control over when to work.

First Palin, Now Bill O’Reilly Gets Hacked

Fox News lightning rod commentator Bill O’reilly has a new cause to rail against. After days of anger vented over the hacking of GOP VP candidate Sarah Palin’s e-mail, he’s now found himself similarly victimized.
His personal site has been hacked. The hacker claims to have stolen a list of subscribers to the site, which contains their names, e-mail addresses, city and state, and the password they use for their registration to the site.
The hacker sent an image proofing the hack to the Wikileaks site, which promptly posted it.

Forget CDs…now get your music on memory cards

It looks like CDs will soon go the way of vinyl as music companies are joining to push music on memory cards.
SanDisk Corp., four major record labels and retailers Best Buy Co. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. are hoping that albums sold on microSD memory cards will at least provide an additional stream of sales.
They call it “slotMusic,they will go into music players and mobile phones. And they will come with a small USB dongle that lets buyers use them with computers, too. Read more
Apple to exchange faulty iPhone power adapters

Apple said some power adapters for the latest iPhone can break and lead to the risk of electric shock and urged users to exchange them, although no injuries have been reported.
