Financial calculators to help you know your assets

From the PC Milke report on NBC-TV… The crazy financial roller coaster of the past week has had us all gasping for breath and wondering just how secure our assets are un these tumultuous times. I’ve found some online calculators that will help you cut through the financial fog.

When it comes to personal finance, you can never know too much. So start with the list of financial tools from Yahoo. From analyzing tour spending to paying off your credit cards, you’ll find dozens of calculators that will answer most any question.

Quicken Loans has a calculator that will help you estimated your home value. It uses data from the US Census Bureau and real estate records in your area to calculate an estimated home value. And they claim its generally accurate to within 10%.

How about your car? How much is it worth? Check the Kelly Blue Book site. Enter in your zip code, make and model and the details and it will give you retail, trade in or private sale value estimates, based on the extras and the condition of your vehicle.

Looking to the future? There’s a calculator from the Bloomberg folks geared towards your 401K. Type in your annual salary, current age, how much you’ll save and the age you want to retire, and the estimated return you expect and it instantly tells you how much you’ll accumulate when you quit work.
