Does Wi-Fi help get better grades?

How important is Wi-Fi to the average college student and how is this technology changing the way that they study, communicate (with professors and classmates) and even socialize? Here are a few example results from a recent study conducted by the Wi-Fi Alliance and Wakefield Research:

· 73% say Wi-Fi helps them get better grades
· 90% say Wi-Fi access is as essential to education as classrooms and computers

· Nearly three in five say they wouldn’t go to a college that doesn’t offer free Wi-Fi

· If forced to choose, nearly half of respondents would give up beer before giving up Wi-Fi

According to ABI Research, Wi-Fi equipment revenue in the global higher education market will skyrocket from $137 million in 2007 to $837 million by 2013.

Wi-Fi has become a universal expectation among college students, and their attitudes towards technology are a good indicator of broad changes underway in how we as a society learn, work and communicate.
