Apple fixes download issues over OS X update
Apple seems to have straighted out an issue that brought lots of grumbles from Apple fans last night when they tried to download the massive 440MB upgrade to the Mac OS X operating system.
The reports were pretty standard. After being notified by Apple’s software update alert of a new download, users would start the process only to receive an error message that the file have been corrupted since being signed by Apple.
User Bob Shafer found a work around: “Skip the update utility and go directly to the Apple website to download the new OS,” he woite on my Facebook wall. “That worked on one of my Macs just a few minutes ago, after the updater didn’t like the digital signature. I’m doing it on the new Mac right now. Go to support.apple.com/downloads and scroll down to Mac OS X 10.5.7 – not the server versions.”
The new Mac OS X 10.5.7 upgrade includes a bunch of security fixs, improves video playing and syncing of Apple iCal events, among other things.
I had the problem last night but this morning, the issue seems to have been resolved and the download went off without a hitch.
