How to remove Facebook quizzes and applications
The one Facebook question I’m asked more than any other is how to get rid of those annoying quizzes, games and applications that plague Facebook. Why some people use them is beyond me but why they insist on sharing them is even more bothersome.
Fortunately, there is a way to get rid of them.
You need to use Firefox. That’s the only browser anyone should use. If you use IE or Safari or even Chrome, just move on. If I have to explain why Firefox should be your browser of choice you are beyond help here.
So. here’s how to remove the display of those Facebook quizzes or applications:
You need two add-ons.
First get Greasemonkey. It installs automatically.
Then get Facebook Purity. It’s a script that works with the Greasemonkey add-on to remove all messages posted by applications to your homepage. It gets rid of messages about quizzes as well as all messages from any applications created by external developers.
You are left with just the messages from the original Facebook apps such as status updates, wall posts, links, notes, photos, etc.
A handy feature of the script lets you see how many app messages have been blocked, and to show or hide them again. It puts a little message in the top right hand corner of your page, just below the requests section.
You can thank me now.
