IPhone 3G S handset and iPhone 3.0 software now available

Here we go again…there’s yet another iPhone… the third version of the revolutionary touch screen that just went on sale along with new software for those with older phones. I’ve been a certified iPhone fanatic since Day One and here are some of the highlights on what is called the iPhone 3G S.

They call it S for spee and Apple has tweaked this new version to run faster, whether it’s opening applications, calling up Web pages, or downloading e-mail and doing stuff online. But the biggest new feature you’ll find in the iPhone 3G S version is that the still camera now takes video – video you can now actually edit and then send to sites like YouTube or sync to your computer.

You need to buy the new version of the phone to get that, and supplies are tight, with about a two-week wait.

But current 3G users – those who bought after July of 2008 – are also excited. They have new software- a free update sent by Apple. It allows copy and paste, a feature long lacking on the iPhone. There’s also upgrades in the calendar and some new built in applications like a voice memo feature.

These are big improvements in a phone that’s already pretty amazing. But what everyone is now speculating on is next year, and whether Apple will end its exclusive agreement with AT&T and let it also be available on other networks, like Verizon.

Apple has an online Guided Tour video that shows all the details.
