How Twitter has changed my tech reporting

Twitter has changed the way I’m doing breaking tech reporting.

I’m now doing multiple updates every day, covering almost every facet of technology, by posting Twitter Tweets. It’s like tech news now is 24 x 7 and, thanks to blogs, RSS feeds and push e-mail, I’m almost instantly able to take the latest development, turn it into a Tweet and send it out to my followers (you can be one by going to http://twitter.com/pcmike and clicking the follow button).

Then I post those Tweets here, on my blog, thus providing a comprehensive, constantly fresh stream of technology news and reviews.

Out and about, I use my mobile device (which happens to be an iPhone) to ReTweet other posts I find from the Twitter people I follow or my Tweeting directly from thee webpage of the blog or tech site that breaks the story.

Twitter is a hugely powerful tool.

I can concentrate on the longer term reviews, trend pieces or in-depth pieces, leaving the breaking news to the material I can filter and then repurpose as relevant links to my Twitter followers and blog readers.

Twitter rules.
