Online help for keeping those New Year Resolutions
It’s a brand new year and if you are like most Americans, you’ve set some New Year Resolutions for 2010.
Experts tell us that year after year, the top three are losing weight, getting in shape and getting organized.
Technology and the Internet can help you reach your goals.
If you’ve determined to lose weight this year, click on over to Spark People. It’s a free and powerful social networking site dedicated to providing support, advice and, perhaps most importantly online tools to track your nutrition and exercise. A key part is the community. You can plug into Spark Teams with others who share your goals. They’re organized around common interests, even local cities and towns.
For fitness, my favorite site is FitDay. Don’t bother with the $30 program they sell to install on your computer. Instead use the free online service. On FitDay you keep a diary of your food and it analyzes the nutritional information and lets you instantly see how you’re doing that day in reaching your goals.
When it comes to productivity and organizational tools, check out Evernote. It’s free and works on the Web, on your computer and on your mobile phone. Make notes, to-do lists, capture web clippings, anything that is notable that you need to remember or research. It organizes and stores everything for you in searchabe notebooks.
I’ve been using it for half a year now and the way I describe it to friends is that Evernote synchronizes my life.
