Committee votes to ban in-flight cell phone yammering

August 2, 2008 by admin

The “Halting Airplane Noise to Give Us Peace (Hang Up) Act,” which would ban voice communication during scheduled flights, has bassed the House Transportation Infrastructure Committee.

Amen is all I can say. Can you imagine being trapped on a coast-to-coast flight with seatmates blathering on and on? The FAA already prohibits this but this proposed new Hang Up Act would make the ban permanent.

It won’t affect moves to allow wi-fi Internet access.

The Hang Up Act now moves to the full House of Representatives. For more, see Congress Moves To Ban In-Flight Cell Phone Calls - Yahoo! News.
