Internet caps may cause users to limit usage
August 24, 2008 by admin
Like all monopolies that control vital services, the nation’s Internet providers are moving to control the growth of traffic on their networks by making the heavuest users pay the most.
And it’s a scandal. Even modest Internet users may hit these arbitrarily-set usage caps, as SFGate.com reports. All the cable companies are considering it.
You think big oil is greedy? The cable companies are every bit their profiteering equals.
The coming usage caps will likely cause consumers to limit their Net usage, downloads, video watching and other services and features that many of us have come to take for granted. And it will surely have a chilling effect on entertainment companies that see the Internet as an exciting new conduit for inexpensively distributing movies, music and new online services.
It’s all because of the largely unregulated and insatiable greed of the cable providers.
