Quick Guide: Expense Tracking and Financial Apps

With the new year comes a new emphasis on getting organized and keeping track of our finances. If that’s one of your goals for 2015, I can help with some very handy apps.

I am loving the Smart Receipts app. No more paperwork. I just gather up my receipts, take a photo of them with my smartphone, entering the details and everything is totaled and categorized. I have copies of every receipt electronically stored and safe and secure and I can then print out a report covering whatever time period I want that can be stored on a computer or emailed. It’s great for expense reports for work. No more piles of papers and shoeboxes. Also, it keeps track of mileage rates. Best of all, the Smart Receipts app is free and works with all Apple and Android devices.

Keeping track of your money and paying bills also is a lot easier with an app – specifically, the Mint Bills and Money app. Just set it up once and it links to your various accounts and reminds you when payments are due. You can even pay your bills through the app. It shows you what you have, who you owe and manages all your accounts. Also free for Apple and Android.
