My Blackberry review - in print and video versions

November 14, 2005 by Mike Wendland

My review of the new BlackBerry 8700 is up at Freep.com: MIKE WENDLAND: The whole world in your hand. But so is a WMV video review I put together showing the new model next to the old.

Upgrade questions for you, Mike: I still use an older Handspring running an ancient version of Palm OS…and I think it’s safe to say that I’m no longer with the times. I’d like your opinion with respect to which “all-in-one” PDA/phone you prefer? Both the Treos and this new BlackBerry look pretty darn good to me, so is it a toss-up? Also worth noting: I use a Mac and want to make sure either selection plays well. Your expertise is most appreciated!

For straight and full compatability with the Mac, you’ll want the Treo 650…
You can get the same compatability with BlackBerry on the Mac using a product called PocketMac for BlackBerry.
If e-mail is the nost importabt function you want, go for the BB.
If calendaring, contacts and other programs and data are most important, the Treo 650 is your choice - it, too, does e-mai, though not as convenience as with the BB.
Me? Right now, I use both. cant make up my mind :-)

Very helpful…and anything is better than what I currently use :)

This might make a few people give pause to buying a BlackBerry device.
