VoIP is getting traction

January 5, 2005 by Mike Wendland

It’s taken some time but VoIP telephone service is getting some legs. Vonage announced today at CES in Las Vegas that it has 400,000 total lines now on its network - the largest in the still fledgling industry. For $25 a month, a homeowner can get unlimited nationwide service with no long distance. Vonage is also introducing a wi-fi phone.

Why all the fuss over Vonage? Lingo is where it’s at. Also why do people have to pay $20 or so for IP Telephony when in reality it should be around $5.

Why all the fuss over Vonage?

Because they are the company who is pushing the agenda the strongest, they are generating the most media excitement. That doesn’t mean they are the best, but it sure gives you an advantage when people recognize your brand over others.
