Anybody tried Talk America DSL?

Hmm. They claim 4 mbps download speeds for $24.95 a month. Anyone used this service? This sounds too good to be true. Talk America DSL

The main thing that makes me wary is “(DSL connectivity requires local phone service activation with Talk America)” but doesn’t give any details about that. I am also concerned that there is so little other supporting info on the page– seems like the old adage may apply: “cheap, quick, and quality: choose any two.”

In any case, I am a happy Vonage customer and hope never to need a conventional copper landline again.

Parents have used Talk America as their phone service for about 2 years now after getting fed up with SBC / Ameritech. They couldn’t be happier… they will definitely be trying this service.

Well hmmm where to start. My parents (which live a city over) and I both have talk america dsl and phone service. hmmm where can i start there PURE CRAP! my dsl constantly goes out non-stop they give me the run around all the time telling me to try this and this and this (i repair computers for a living give me a break people). I had comcast and sbc dsl before this never ever a problem. These people are horrible. they refuse to ever send someone out even tho they hooked the line up and everything. They tell me there sending someone out on multiple times, did anyone show? NEVER… my parents have had the same experience with them. stay far far away from them. They start out great, then they start to slowly screw you and soon you cant even get threw to cancel your service and if u do switch providers they somehow find a way to screw that up majorly too ( i believe on purpose). so good luck to ya but be warned theres others on the net with experiences like i have had with them.
