Comcast’s boosting speed

Later this month, Comcast is upping download speeds from 4 Mbps to 6 Mbps at no extra cost for current subscribers. Fot $10 more a month, you can get 8 Mbps. Count me in. Comcast boosting Internet speeds

One of the confusing parts about Comcast’s new offerings is whether barebones “Basic” cable (typically local channels and PEG) qualifies one for “CATV Subscriber” rates.
Am I missing something or is “Although cable companies like Comcast have engaged in aggressive price-cutting,…” supposed to be in reference to the phone companies and DSL. Other than new-customer promos, I have yet to see Comcast do anything that falls into the “agressive price-cutting” category.
I just switched from Comcast to Verizon FIOS, it is a newly offered service provider in the area and so far it is everything that everyone expects from a service provider the first time they connected to the internet. Speed is around 1 mpbs for only $44 a month, this blows Comcast out of the water, the only problem is that the service areas are very limited currently.
