Faster turn on time for laptops

The one area where computers haven’t seen big improvements is in the time it takes for them to power up. Good for Intel, which has found a way to make it almost immediate. Intel slashes laptop power-up times..

Playing catch up again. Although a Mac laptop starts up about as slow as a windows… the one competitive advantage is - a PowerBook and iBook “sleeps” much better than a Windows PC.
I re-start my PowerBook maybe once a week or after I do an upgrade. Other than that, I simply close my lid and re-open when I want to start using it again Voila - everything is ready in a second.
I have never been able to successfully just sleep a Win XP PC without troubles.
