PCM16 Techcast – Confessions of an Apple Fanboy at 3:01 a.m.
Sometimes, we have so many topics to cover we can’t decide what is the most important. So it is in this episode, as we first we talk about how the new Apple Watch became available for pre-order this week, for all of about 10 minutes. That’s all it took for existing supplies to be sold out to the herds of Apple lemmings. Yes, I am one of them. That’s one big tech story we cover this week. The other story is a serious scandal just waiting to break into public awareness. Anyone who’s ever used email should know this: the U.S. government can legally and easily access emails older than…

PCM13 PC Mike Podcast: Why a Dash Cam Should Be Your Next Tech Purchase
From strange lights over Colorado to exploding houses in New Jersey, stunning video that would otherwise go unseen is being caught by dashboard cameras. In fact, we predicted dash cams would be one of the hottest tech gizmos of 2015 and still think it really should be your next tech purchase. That’s why we dedicate most of episode 13 of the PC Mike Podcast to the subject of dash cams. Has Apple Finally Become Too Elitist?
Help me with this folks: I need a reason to buy the Apple Watch. Try as I might, I find no need, no real purpose, no compelling rationale to justify spending hundreds of dollars for a watch that really doesn’t do much more than look good. I’m trying very hard here to talk myself into pre-ordering it when Apple starts taking orders on April 10. But the Apple Watch, near as I can tell, is nothing more than a status symbol for those who think they are trendsetters. Let’s start with these reasons against buying one. It is ridiculously expensive. The cheapest model, called the Sport, sells for $349 for…

PCM009 PC Mike Podcast: Forget Wall St., What Apple’s Success Means to YOU!
Ever since becoming the company to make the most money ever during a three-month period, everyone’s been talking Apple. But here’s the thing: A lot of the discussion has been centered on Wall Street as opposed to the view from Main Street – what Apple’s success as a business means to the consumers who actually buy Apple products and services. That’s exactly what we talk about during this episode of the PC Mike Techcast with our special guest, Paul Sweeting, lead analyst at Gigaom Research and founder of Concurrent Media Strategies, a Washington, D.C.-based consulting and editorial services firm specializing in digital media technology and policy issues. “Apple needs to make big, category-defining, or…

Standing in Line for iPhone 6 and Apple Watch
Apple’s back. Tim Cook may not equal Steve Jobs in the cool charisma department but the products he and his team announced today have put Apple firmly back as the world’s most innovative and influential technology driver. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have everything I could ask for in a smartphone. I’m willing to stand in line (again) to get my hands on them. The base iPhone 6 model comes with a 4.7 inch and the 6 Plus has a 5.5 inch-screen, way bigger than current models. The iPhone 6 screen has over 1 million pixels, while the iPhone 6 Plus has over 2 million pixels, which translates into…
