Anyone who’s taken on gardening with little to no success may take some solace in knowing that they aren’t alone. Need proof? A growing number of apps are available to help gardeners with, well, their growing. This week, I have three of the latest. The SmartyPlants app provides a ton of information about just about any plant you can get your hands on. Simply take a picture of the plant and the app will recognize what it is, and help guide you on caring for it. With warmer temps comes a lot more green, specifically in our gardens. If you don’t do it right, though, you can waste a lot of green, specifically from your wallet. I have three apps to get those gardens going right. Garden Plan Pro is one of the best all-around apps for getting your garden organized. The app helps you design your own gardens, from planting raised beds and rows to proper placement of containers. With warm weather and spring now in full bloom, it’s time to get serious about our gardens. Growing fresh vegetables is fun and healthy and I have some apps for smartphones and tablets that will help your garden grow like you really have a green thumb. My favorite app this year is the Organic Gardening Planting Planner for the iPhone. It starts with a calendar to maximize your planning and time your planting for your region of the country.
