PCM31: Breaking Down Apple’s ‘Incredible’ Yawner of an Event

    September 10, 2015 /

Apple CEO Tim Cook promised “monster news” at the beginning of the company’s big event this week – and we’re still waiting. That’s because instead of monster announcements, we mostly received details about updates for Apple Watch, the iPad line, the all-new Apple TV, and the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Now, that isn’t to discount the large amount of interest many will have in these updates – after all, a company couldn’t get away with calling this snoozefest a “big event” if its products weren’t insanely popular. We’re just saying, unveiling the Apple Pencil isn’t exactly monster nor does it quite stack up to the 2001 announcement of iPod or the 2007…

PCM30 Apple Watch: What to Know Four Months In

    September 4, 2015 /

Apple Watch is finding favor among the health conscious and fans of Apple Pay, but after four months of being on the market users says it’s the little things making the biggest differences. Or as Bernard Desarnauts, founder of Wristly.co, calls it, the “delightful moments.” That is, those times when users can’t access their smartphones or tablets yet need access to the kind of information those devices provide – like an emergency text or call that comes through with two arms of groceries. Desarnauts’ Wristly knows all about Apple Watch. Wristly collects feedback from users about how they use Apple Watch. He joins PC Mike this week to share what he knows – and…

PCM23: Coincidence or Not, Computer Glitches Show We’re Too Tech-centric

    July 9, 2015 /

Were the so-called “computer glitches” this week at the New York Stock Exchange, United Airlines, and Wall Street Journal all purely coincidental or not? We’ll probably never know, but the bigger question is – does it matter? Fact is, it shows you how dependent we are on technology and how a coordinated hacking event could cause such tremendous chaos – and there are many working toward causing such disruptions. This episode of the PC Mike Techcast kicks off with Mike bringing you up to speed on what happened and why he thinks it’s just too unbelievable to be coincidence that three major “glitches” – plus a couple of others not getting…

PCM20: When Tech Turns! Why I Cancelled My Apple Watch, How Facebook Hurts

    May 15, 2015 /

Tech has made our world better in so many ways, but – as Apple Watch and Facebook sometimes shows us – that doesn’t mean it occasionally can’t turn on us. Take PC Mike’s experience with Apple Watch. After waking in the middle of the night to order it not too long ago, he finally got sick of the delays and run around and simply cancelled his order. Mike talks about why he cancelled his order and how he feels about Apple now. Then, Mike talks to Douglas Kenrick, a professor at Arizona State University and author of several books, and ASU Researcher Jessica Bodford, about ways Facebook is bad for…
